What services does Flying Start offer?
Flying Start offers logo design, stationery, print marketing and graphic design services plus quality printing too. Being client-driven
Why don't you display prices on your website?
It'd be confusing - there are so many options in terms of graphic design, print materials and colour technology. Also, often our clients don't exactly know what they need. So we'd rather understand the needs of clients and provide a free quotation.
Do I own the copyright to a logo designed by Flying Start?
Absolutely. Following full payment then copyright of final artwork passes to you - full details per terms. We retain clients through excellent ongoing service, not underhand Intellectual Property.
Can Flying Start design print marketing, such as a brochure, for printing by another firm?
Sure, no problem. Flying Start clients typically are delighted that we both design and print their marketing materials - as it makes the process easy, saves them a headache of finding a reliable print firm and our print prices are competitive. If printing is being performed by another firm then Flying Start needs to know the appropriate artwork specifications for the print firm.
What Conqueror paper/card can you provide?
Conqueror manufactures dozens of types of paper. We can supply them all. The top-of-the-range Conqueror 'Connoisseur' is popular amoung our clients. As is Smooth 'Wove'. Whatever your preference, all stationery can be exactly matched - so your business cards, letterhead, compliment slips, continuation paper & envelopes use the same style of material. Samples available on request.
Do you offer a real-time online stationery design service?
No. Our clients prefer the personal attention of a graphic designer rather than the use of a pre-made electronic template. Typically our clients also want guidance on an appropriate print material. Together we blend client design preference with our best practice insight to make the finished product look great.
What is the difference between full-colour and Pantone colour printing?
Full-colour printing processes four colours (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black) to create an almost limitless range of colours. It's very flexible and almost always ideal for artwork that contains more than a couple of colours, such as postcards.
Pantone is a company that creates industry-wide colours. Pantone printing involves pre-mixing of exact 'spot' colours and feeding these into the print machinery. Hence quotes are stated as 'one colour' or 'two colour'. Depending on the task, pantone-based printing can be more expensive but can lead to greater consistency across many print items.
Not sure if you need full-colour or Pantone? No problem, we're happy to provide guidance.
I need to send artwork to Flying Start. What file formats do you accept?
Logo designs are best received in EPS or AI format. Otherwise PSD or high-resolution JPG files are accepted.
Preferred format for finished print artwork is high-resolution PDF format but AI, EPS, high-resolution JPG files and packaged Indesign folders also accepted.
Flying Start strongly recommends against use of Microsoft applications (MS Word, MS Powerpoint) for graphic design.
They can be helpful to show layout but are inherently limited to low-resolution output, so print output would lack clarity.
